White Wednesday #3

I know I'm a little late....but sometimes
I just can't seem to get it together in time.

I thought I didn't have anything good enough
for White Wednesday
but I'm gonna go for it anyway.

If you're like me and get super happy about a great deal,
(or "score" as my junkin' friend Margaret and I like to say),
I'm sure you can appreciate this one.

I love going on the last day of an estate sale
to rummage through all the junk that's left over.

You can get some pretty good deals,
like this awesome old french door.

There it was, all lonely, leaning on its side
against an old tree stump with grass growing through it.

It's beyond chippy....
you just can't make this kinda chippy.

Dontcha just love the old rusty latch?

and the old rusty hinges...

and check out the original old door knob and back plate.

And the best part about this door?

Remember how I told you I scored?

This awesome, rusty, crusty, chippy, old french door
cost me a whole dollar!

But honestly, the very best part about it
was that I wouldn't have been able to get it at all
if it weren't for My Man, who's way more awesome
than any old door.

There was no way it was fitting in my suburban with all three kids.

Believe me, I can cram A LOT of junk in my car.

I'm sure you know how creative us junkers can be when
we really, really want something.

My fabulous Husband came to my rescue
(when he should've been getting himself lunch)
and met up with me and the kids
to throw this old door in the back of his truck.

The sweetest part about this whole story?

The very next day,
while he was at the dump,
he grabbed another old french door for me!

SCORE!!!

beautiful White Wednesday posts!

Blessings,

Missy

  5. Hi Missy,
I am new to your blog and I love it!! I'm from So Cal too and it looks like we frequent the same hot spots. I've been shopping at the Tea Leaf Cottage for years even before they moved into the old camera shop, and the Long Beach mart is my favorite flea!! I've been living in Northern Cal for the past year but I'm moving back to So Cal in August and I can't wait!
I'm so glad I found your blog! Your door is spectacular!!
    Have a great weekend.
    Sincerely,
    Melinda

  8. Hi Missy, I connected with you through Flea Market Friday, and I see that you're acquainted with my cousin Ana from A Petit Cottage and My GF Kate from Salvage Dior. Aren't they great?

I lived in Moreno Valley for 5 years and loved to shop in Old Town Riverside, one of my favorites was The Mission Galleria because it was SO BIG! How did you end up with a window space girl? I thought you had to be a Galleria Veteran. LOL

Anyway, you're space looks great and I can't wait to visit and see how you've changed it up. I haven't been up there in almost 4 years.

Did you read Ritas' post about her and Christies' recent Riverside Shopping Day? I hope they stopped by your booth =o]
I ran into them today while shopping at the Old Town Tustin Flea Market.

BTW I sell at Irvine Valley Flea Market and The Rose Bowl.

I hope to meet you someday soon, take care!!

  12. You have gotta love a guy that gets you. And your door, I am in love. I am looking for a door right now for this great idea I have the only thing is, either the door is too new, has no hardware or the seller thinks their "shesh" does not stink and it is too expensive. Still looking.
